District Five - Hoosick, Petersburgh, Grafton, Berlin and Stephentown

Residents in eastern Rensselaer County have come to trust Lester Goodermote, who has served as legislators and previously as a longtime town judge in Hoosick.

Along with years of service as a legislator and judge, Lester also brings important private sector business experience to the Legislature. Lester operates a tax preparation business, preparing tax returns for hundreds of residents and businesses in the district. He also continues to own and operate the popular Potter Hill Barn, a business he founded with his late wife.

Lester and his colleague, Legislator Stan Brownell, have made an effective team for District 5 residents. They have supported a farmland protection effort that has helped save farmland and open space throughout eastern Rensselaer County. They have also advocated for improvement of county roads and protection of important services for seniors, veterans and youths.

At a time when many municipalities were raising property taxes, Lester and Stan supported a 2009 county budget that did not raise property taxes. They also supported fiscal management practices that resulted in the county's credit rating being upgraded.
