Rensselaer County Legislators – Republican Legislative Campaign Committee News ReleaseDistrict 3: Tom Walsh, Ken Herrington & Richard SalisburyTowns of Hoosick, Petersburgh, Grafton, Berlin and StephentownRensselaer County Legislators Thomas Walsh Sr., Ken Herrington and Richard Salisbury were successful in the important September 15 primary for the Independence party nomination. A final tally at the Rensselaer County Board of Elections showed Walsh, Herrington and Salisbury winning the Independence primary by a comfortable margin. "We appreciate the support we received from members of the Independence Party in the September 15 primary. We also appreciate the support and hard work by our supporters during the successful primary," said Walsh. "This was an important victory and gives our campaign momentum as we head towards Election Day," added Herrington.The victory in the September 15 Independence Party primary means Walsh, Herrington and Salisbury can be found on the Republican, Independence and Conservative lines in the November 3 general election. Walsh, Herrington and Salisbury have been campaigning on thir record of protecting needed services and approving a 2009 county budget that did not raise property taxes. The three legislators also supported creation of a farmland protection plan that has helped protect more than 3,000 acres of open space. The three lawmakers have also stated their opposition to the more than 100 new taxes and fees Democrats who control state government approved, noting the negative impact on residents during the recession. "Voters have responded positively to our record of protecting services and taxpayers during tough economic times," said Salisbury.
